New Music: Weak Size Fish Return With ‘Lost Lagoon’ And ‘Sail The Sea’

Weak Size Fish have returned with their brand of dub reggae to release their new single “Lost Lagoon,” accompanied by B-side “Sail The Sea.” The tracks hit like an existential crisis, leaving you feeling trapped in an unsustainable modern urban lifestyle, ultimately causing you to relocate, possibly make some bad life choices, and finally ending up living out a Guy Ritchie film. But hey, at least we’re dancing, right?

Written by Nick Mazerolle and recorded between The Recordery and the band’s temporary makeshift studio at their rehearsal space in Devon (which they’ve dubbed “Chateau Henri”), “Lost Lagoon” had already been performed a handful of times over the last year before the band took it to the studio this winter.

“The ‘Lost Lagoon'” could be considered as a place where one goes to reawaken themselves to the values they’ve always known to be true but have begun to doubt due to the influence of others,” explains Weak Size Fish’s Greg Profit.

“Sail the Sea” is a B-side bonus track that had originally been recorded for their 2012 album Shakedown, but reworking it fit thematically alongside the new single.

“After a five year hiatus, we breathed new life into the song when we began playing again in 2017. It is a feel-good summer tune about wanting to get away with your love and ridding yourself of any worries,” says Profit

“‘Lost Lagoon’ is similar to ‘Sail the Sea’ in that it is about ‘getting away.’ However, this track is more introspective and borne more from an actual desire to get away from the city life and the societal norms that we are lead to believe are the ‘correct’ way to live our lives.”

Weak Size Fish report that they are currently planning out a series of shows this summer between trips back to the studio to work on their third full LP.
