Music Video: Tachichi Takes On Drake’s ‘Nice For What’

Halifax rapper Tachichi is stepping up to the plate with his take on Drake’s single “Nice For What” in his latest video. While we’re getting low-key Brad Pitt levels of “What’s in the cup?” vibes, Tachichi says this isn’t about stirring up beef.

“I heard the beat and thought it would be amazing to throw some bars on!” says Tachichi.

Tachichi explains that he had his reservations about rapping over Toronto’s defacto rap-lord supreme after having released a track dissing him a few years ago.

“I wasn’t feeling the auto tune stuff when he first came out but over time I just became indifferent. There are songs I like by him and there are songs I don’t to be honest. He has his hustle and I respect that. He is a talented Canadian artist and I can appreciate that as well. I do a different kind of hip hop myself but that’s fine!”

He also says that he wants to make it very clear that his take on “Nice For What” is not meant to show any disrespect for Drake, but is intended as a showcase of his own skills.

“I did a Drake diss just for fun and exercise because why not. That’s what rappers do. I have no real problem with Drake and he I’m sure has no concern of who I am. This track was not a diss or in anyway made to bring attention to any beef at all. I just loved the beat and wanted to go hard on it! Growing and maturing as an artist is a thing that I will always embrace. Go Canada! Put that work in!”

“I’m just representing my squad Sipset and basically letting people know I can rap well over any beat, commercial or independent.”

Tachichi says that we can expect to see his next album released this June.
